Neon Race Walkthrough

Neon Race is an incredible addictive and difficult racing game that will put your racing skills to the test and challenge you to stay on your toes. In each level, your goal is to make it through the track as quickly as you can while earning enough money to purchase the upgrades you'll need to make it through the later levels in the game. In order to pass one level and progress to the next, you need to get through the race and cross the finish line in the time required. If you don't reach the finish line before the time limit is up, you'll be allowed to finish the race but you won't be able to unlock the next track. If you want to beat this game, you need to be fast, but you also need to be careful. This one will definitely challenge you, which is really what makes it so addictive.

Neon Race takes racing games to a new level by challenging you to crash into some cars while avoiding others. This isn't something you'll often seen in the other racing games online. Although it might sound complicated, the handy color coding makes it much easier to understand. Red cars are your enemies. You want to crash into the red cars. Purple cars, on the other hand, are your friends. You need to avoid crashing into the purple cars. Hitting red cars will build up that all important turbo meter, allowing you to access it when you need a speed boost. Hitting purple cars will not only slow you down but will deal significant damage to your car making it far easier for your car to be destroyed. You are able to continue on after your car is destroyed, but you'll have to wait for your car to regenerate. That takes time and puts you at a serious disadvantage with trying to reach your level time goal.

There are several power ups in Neon Race that you can drive into to collect. These power ups help you perform better in your race and help you get closer to reaching your goal for the game. You don't have to worry about hitting any special buttons t activate the power ups you collect. They activate as soon as you drive over them. There are three different power ups in total, each offering something different. The exclamation point power up gives you an instantaneous boost in your score. The benefit there is obvious. The sun burst power up (or multi-pointed star if you prefer) makes all cars smashable for a limited time. Be careful with this one. You need to remember that it only remains in effect for a limited time. Don't continue smashing into cars after the power up runs out as you'll almost certainly hit a purple one. This power up can help you build up that turbo boost a lot faster. Finally, the dollar sign power up gives you money which you can use to purchase upgrades. Collect as much money as you can. You'll need it.

There are five different areas you can upgrade in Neon Race and each of those five areas can be upgraded to five stars. Each new star is more expensive than the last, but the upgrades are absolutely vital to making it through the game. Get as many money bonuses as you can so you can get the upgrades you need, but be smart about what you buy. Identify your weakest point as a racer and choose upgrades that will strengthen your performance in those areas first. For example, if you have trouble with corners, choose to upgrade your wheels first. Wheels help your car handle better on corners. Max speed upgrades extend the maximum speed of your car allowing you to make it through the track faster but they'll be of little use if you can't prevent yourself from crashing long enough for your car to reach that top speed. If you crash a lot, though, you may want to choose acceleration upgrades. Upgrading your acceleration can help you recover from crashed a little more quickly. Brakes and turbo boosts are also great upgrades, but focus on your weakest areas first and then worry about the other upgrades.

Make sure you pay attention to the time you need to complete each level and move on to the next one each time you begin a new level in Neon Race. If you don't pay attention to that level goal, you're going to have a hard time reaching it and moving on to the next level. While the first few races are fairly easy and you'll likely get the time you need just by racing normally, that won't be true of later levels. You'll have to find ways to move through those levels quickly. Remember though, a loss is not necessarily a bad thing in this game. You still keep the money you earned during the level so you'll at least have that to put towards upgrades that will make getting through the level easier. In addition, you'll also be able to get a little more familiar with the track each time you play it so you'll have a better idea where the twists and turns in the track are.

Overall, Neon Race is one of those racing games that appeals to everyone. While initially it stands out because the graphics are so different, as you play you realize that the game is a lot more than cool graphics. It's genuinely challenging and definitely addictive. This is a game you're going to want to play to the very end - and then likely want to play to the very end again. If you want to do well in this game, you really need to keep your eyes open, collect money, buy upgrades and watch out for those purple cars. As long as you stay focused, be patient and keep your level time goal in mind, you should be able to beat this game regardless of how much experience you have going in.
